Ethel Nokes

British writer of mainly religiously themed children's books. Three of her children's novels are equine-related (two pony, one donkey). The pony strories, although somewhat moralistic in tone, are not overtly religious at all. It is a shame she didn't write more because they are actually very good reads, and her donkey story is very funny.

The British Library also lists a book of poems by an Ethel Nokes, so she may also have been a poet as well as an author.
